Protection of trees in winter: Here's everything you need to know!

Protection of tree trimming & pruning is essential in every season, whether it is summer, winter or rainy. One doesn't need to worry more about the trees in the spring or rainy season. Due to rain, trees grow well.

Every tree has different behaviour for various seasons. Especially in winter, trees behave differently as plants get more damaged due to no sunlight & more dryness.

Now we can discuss the damages that winters cause to plants.

Causes that winter seasons gave to trees-

  • Lack of plant strength

Some plants don't have much strength, so they are not capable of surviving in the cold. They have conditions in which they will die if the temperature rises after a certain point.

And some plants only survive during winters at specific temperatures. They don't want more sunlight. So, for this, you need to stay active and set up your garden accordingly. Only you can make your yard look beautiful when you focus on the weather and the trees.

Tree survival nature in all temperatures are different, you can select them to maintain regularity in the garden, but you cannot ignore their maintenance.

  • Root injury

Roots of more trees and shrubs grow in soil temperature, which is higher than the outside temperature. So some plants can easily survive in winters as their roots don't get damaged.

But still, wide varieties cannot live in the soil whose temperature is different from the extreme temperature. Usually, people prefer to put moist soil in their garden as they hold more heat than dry soil. This saves the roots from getting injured.

  • Damage to evergreen plants

Evergreen plants get discoloured in freezing weather, and this is caused due to winter sun and wind, causing huge water loss while the roots are in frozen soil and unable to replace lost water.

Also, those winter days on which we cannot see the sun cause a lack of chlorophyll in the plants and damage leaves and colour.

Now, go through the idea of how to cure the plants of all these damages.

Things required in caring for the plants

  • Timely prune

Trees do not perform any activity during winter, which gives the perfect time to prune. You are recommended to prune trees when young to establish perfect structure and cure damage in the future.

If you don't have a perfect idea of how to prune the trees and don't have the ideal tool for the same, then hire a professional to do this.

  • Prevent them from freezing

You must always be ready in winter to protect your trees from freezing. This requires very much attention from them.

To protect them, you can cover them with a sheet or anything else. Keep the soil moist as they absorb most heat which helps the plants to survive properly.

  • Provide continued water when there is no rain

In winters, you must provide water regularly, meaning once a week or according to the nature of the plants.

Young trees require more water, but mature trees can live long without water for up to 1 month.

You must be wondering how you will do all these tasks alone, so don't worry. You need to contact an expert and they will come regularly and will check all the details.

I hope this blog will help you know how to do tree care in winter.
